Waiting for sunrise. We arrived to this surreal place at 3 am with my instant best friend @thrainnko after driving 12 hours like maniacs through black deserts and zillion flies. Climbed to the edge of the crater and waited for the first sunrays for the next 1,5 hours in the freezing cold wind blowing from the nearby glacier, when suddenly the sun came out and this happened. My happy place. It was so much fun to finally spend a weekend in the High Tatras again. Rewards at 5 am. That night we already drove endless kilometers with my friend @jvn.photo when we finally decided to go to the campground of Landmannalaugar to have some rest. Suddenly the thickest fog covered the landscape in front of us, but we still had to drive and extra 1,5 hours in the most difficult conditions: no lights, white fog and black sand everywhere and only 5 meters visibility. We almost reached our destination, when Jeroen noticed some clear spots in the fog above us. He called me on the walkie-talkie and asked for a last stop to check the surroundings with his drone, and even though I was so damn tired, I believed in him and did the same. Was it worth? After a long day on the road full of driving, business events and meetings, I’ve decided to go to this beach at 2 am. I already scouted the area last year, saved some river deltas in the region that goes right into the ocean, and when I found out our hotel is basically just 1 km away from the shoreline, I could not resist to have a look despite I didn’t sleep for 26 hours.
